Threads of Knowing
The history of the Bushmen in Southern Africa, told through embroidery. In 2005, Tamar Mason was commissioned by the Origins Centre at the University of the Witwatersrand to design and make eleven large embroidered panels depicting the history of the Bushmen. A collective of women assisted in the making of the work, and the imagery was sourced from contemporary Bushman artists, rock art sites, archives and historical documents.
